As reported days ago Ford is no bailout angel. It got some significant help from the Feds during the darkest days (to date) of the economic crisis. But it wasn’t nationalized like GM and Chrysler essentially were.
A new ad that Ford was running, touting the fact that the company had mostly stood, and continues to stand, on its own without Federal aid.
In the ad a new F150 owner explains that his choice in truck was influenced by the fact that Ford did not (technically) take bailout money.
The Obama Administration was not happy about the ad and has pressured Ford into removing it because, according to The Detroit News:
“Ford pulled the ad after individuals inside the White House questioned whether the copy was publicly denigrating the controversial bailout policy,”
With the election coming up White House thought that the ad might be a political liability.
So what if it was “publicly denigrating”? What business is it of the White House what ads a private company chooses to run?
