Subsidizing fried food is not smart.
A few months ago we ran a story on how YUM! Brands is actively lobbying state governments for access to food stamps. With 1 in 7 adults and 1 in 4 children in this country on the EBT program the company which owns KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell sees a key revenue source that the grocery stores have access to and they do not.
In a rare moment of sanity the USDA has actually come out against YUM!’s efforts. The states have also been less than enthusiastic to date. But with a big nugget of tax payer money out there you can bet that YUM! Brands will continue in its efforts to gain a mainline from the tax payer to their bottom line, clogging arteries along the way.
