Rand Paul can’t, by law, tell us the number of people the government has spied on since September 11th 2001. Uses the word “gazillions.”

Drones, warrantless wiretapping, online trolling, who knows how many times the government has spied on its own citizens in the past decade? The government knows. And Rand Paul now knows. But he’s not allowed to tell us.

So when he was asked what he had learned in a special hearing on domestic spying Paul could only say that the government has spied on its own citizenry “gazillions” of times. Gazillions. How many times is that? No one knows, but it sounds like a whole heck of a lot.
