Not only did we need to pass Obamacare to see what was in it, we now don’t even have a clue how it’s going to impact the economy.
Small business owners don’t know how it’s going to work. Large employers don’t know how it’s going to work. The uninsured don’t know how it’s going to work. The currently covered don’t know how it’s going to work.
Because even Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius doesn’t know how it’s going to work. A huge chunk of the economy is about to be taken over by the government and even at this late date, everyone is clueless.
There are however 2 areas of clarity, one is that many unions and other friends of the Obama administration have gotten exceptions from the law. The other is that 1/7 of the economy is not protected by such exemptions and will soon be hacking its way through even more red tape. We don’t know how the red tape will warp the economy, but we do know there will be lots of it.
“I just see a huge train wreck coming down,” he told Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius at a Wednesday hearing. “You and I have discussed this many times, and I don’t see any results yet.”
Baucus pressed Sebelius for details about how the Health Department will explain the law and raise awareness of its provisions, which are supposed to take effect in just a matter of months.
“I’m very concerned that not enough is being done so far — very concerned,” Baucus said.
