Feinstein’s Attempt to Define ‘Real Journalism’ Blasted By Journalists

Scahill cc

Ms. Feinstein is against legalized pot, against the 2nd Amendment, and for restricting the definition of a “journalist” and by extension the 1st Amendment. She just doesn’t seem to like freedom generally.

Journalism is in the process of massive change. Business models are in flux. New methods are being used. Social media has revolutionized communication. Light is shining into areas which were once in the shadows.

But many people in power (such as Ms. Feinstein) do not like that the nodes of control have become as dispersed as they are. If knowledge is power, the everyday person is much more powerful now than he or she once was.

Whereas until very recently a story could be quashed by a call from a politician’s chief of staff to the editor of a newspaper or TV network, that era for the most part is over. This worries people like Feinstein. The crony media have long been an ally, she’s not just going to let it go without a fight.

And just for kicks, here’s a post we did about the good Senator’s husband getting a sweetheart deal to sell defunct post offices.
