Truly it will not end well if people keep buying into the simple minded notion that the government is somehow their friend. That the state will mete out justice on behalf of the “people.” That somehow by expanding the power of the politicians life will be made better.
The government is to be tolerated. There are things it must do. But it is not your friend unless you are in the political class. Most of us are not.
This is a poison which has been sold throughout history by the political class. It’s the MARKET you see, not an opaque government built on lies and coercion which is the problem. Don’t look at a state which is hell bent on usurping your very dignity and which is regulating society into a standstill, killing jobs. Don’t look at a central bank which is undermining the interests of everyday people so that the political class and their partners on Wall Street can continue to live in the way to which they are accustomed. Inflation? Oh it’s not our fault. Oh, I mean, it doesn’t exist.
The government will never take responsibility for its actions. The compliant media acts as enabler. And for those who want to believe the surface level narrative coming from the political class it is easy to. It’s not the government which has gone coo coo bananas along with the big banks, it’s those evil people who believe in free enterprise.
The problem is not the market. It is not entrepreneurs. It is not people who want to make a pile of money through hard work and ingenuity. It is not too much freedom. It is not businesses “gauging” customers (at least without the help of the government).
The problem is a group of people using the levers of government to line their pockets. The crony class is looting wholesale. But these people want everyday people to believe that somehow the thing which gives this class power, which provides the vehicle for looting, the state, is actually the answer to the average person’s woes.
Sadly many still buy the pile of excrement. Many are low level apparatchiks in the government system who cling to their pensions (and who can blame them). Or they are people who otherwise rely on the state for basic survival. It just can’t be that the benevolent government, the entity which keeps the checks coming, is actually bad. That can’t be. It must be those evil, rich business people. (You know the ones who have no pension, pay all the taxes, and meet payroll.)
Until we embrace the free market and free prices again, and we are here and there in many interesting places which gives me hope, we will continue our decline. So long as a large portion of the population continues to think somehow that people like Hillary Clinton (Who is tied in deeply with the big banks. It was her husband who killed Glass-Steagall. Never forget that.) have their best interests at heart, we are going to make little if any progress. The renaissance which I think is very possible will be deferred or worse.
The solutions from politics will always be the same – grab more power. We are in a downward spiral of liberty and how far we go down this path to the future will be determined by the people and if they at least wise up and see this is not class warfare, it is the people against government. This is why I say career politicians are dangerous for they can be bought way too easily as Clinton was to open the flood gates for the bankers.
This is not going to end pretty. The question is when does society wake up? Just how high will this price be that we have to pay? They will blame the rich and the idiots will cheer – get them. What will happen when there is no more wealth to hunt? We end up with a communist state by default – no wealth, just career politicians who blame everyone but themselves.
