I was checking my email when my phone rang. It was my fiance.
“A plane just flew into the World Trade Center. Oh, it looks like another plane hit the other building.”
I walked downstairs to the company gym where there was a TV. There were maybe 15 people already down there staring at the screen. The Twin Towers were burning against a fabulously blue sky. I heard muffled sobs from somewhere.
I knew at that moment, we all knew, that things were going to change. How? We didn’t know. But the placid 90s were over and we had entered a new era.
