I think this is an interesting ACC story for the following reason. The Postal Service can’t strike. FDR and earlier Democrats always opposed government workers being allowed to form a union. Why did President John Kennedy reverse this established policy and issue an executive order allowing it to form a union? Because it was assumed this would be an assured source of funds for the Democratic Party, which it has been ever since. The taxpayers cover the postal salaries and a fixed percent goes right to the Democrats. What could be nicer— or a better example of crony capitalist politics. But now this captive special interest has gone off reservation by supporting, not the establishment Democratic candidate, but someone who has not even described himself as a Democrat over the years, but rather as a socialist independent. John Kennedy would not be pleased.
