What is interesting to me as I watch videos of “Antifa” (anti-fascist – what a joke) people in the streets playing protest as they bask in their suburban privilege. (Did you get that red handkerchief from The Gap, J. Crew, where? It’s darling.) I am struck by the amount of ignorance I see in one place.
These people are supposedly “anti-fascist” but yet I see banner after banner proclaiming the virtues of socialism. I’ve got news for you Aiden, all fascists are socialists (though not all socialists are fascists). Fascism is a form of socialism. If you were ACTUALLY anti-fascist you’d be marching for free markets and free speech!
But, no, better to cover one’s face and light shit on fire because you’re pissed that Trump won. Go back to your trustafarian apartment which probably has cable, wifi, a full fridge, and access to cool bars. But you’re a revolutionary right? Please.
By the way these protests take money and coordination. Wonder where that’s coming from?
Also just know that you aren’t “heroes.” (Certainly not of the working class to boot.) You aren’t rebels. You aren’t on the “right side of justice.”
You are however – as Lenin said – “useful idiots.” But idiot away, just know that that your cell phone ain’t a gonna work without capitalism. And how would you update your Tumblr then? Or call your mom for a pickup?
This militia, in case you hadn’t noticed, is named after abolitionist John Brown. For those of you who have gone through Common Core American history and are unfamiliar with the name, he was an insurrectionist who was hanged after an armed rebellion against the Democrat-backed slave owners of the antebellum South. Say what you will about his methods, he was a man of conviction and bravery.
These idiots, meanwhile, are nothing more than cowardly defenders of the modern incarnation of the party Brown died fighting. They back an ideology that has no respect for gun rights, but they’re willing to compromise that in order to intimidate Americans into giving up their freedom of speech and assembly.
*”Leftist” is a loaded term. There are plenty of great, thoughtful people on the Left. The headline is not ours – except for the “Not too smart” bit.
**I commend these people for exercising their 2nd Amendment rights. But there is great responsibility that comes with arms, particularly of this kind.
Provoking conflict is not what the 2nd Amendment is about.
