(Alleged) Congress baseball gunman was a Trump-hating Bernie supporter

I was just south of the Beltway coming into Washington when I heard the news. 15 miles north some of the GOP congressional leadership had come under fire. A state cop streaked up the highway shoulder to my left. Above a police helicopter (it appeared) was headed in the same direction. House Whip Scalise had been shot with 4 other people.

Then a statement from Senator Paul who had been at the practice. He said he believed between 50-60 rounds had been shot. I gripped the steering wheel a little more tightly. Son – of – a – bitch.

I wonder now if CNN, MSNBC, NPR, The New York Times, and the Congressional Dems are going to end the absolute insanity they’ve been spewing for 8 months. You lost. YOU ARE NOT RESISTING ANYTHING. YOU ARE HURTING THE COUNTRY. We are all Americans but you have tried to demonize half of the United States electorate with unceasing – in many cases – just flat out propaganda. Frankly what happened this morning was to be expected given the latitude Dem leadership has given their mouthpieces.

And by the way. Good thing one of the good guys was armed or else that nut would have killed a lot more people. Given the targets he could have plunged this country into an acute crisis. Good job Capitol Police.

The gunman who opened fire on a Republican congressional baseball practice session this morning before being killed by cops has been identified as a Trump-hating Bernie Sanders supporter.

Sixty-six-year-old James T. Hodgkinson from Belleville, Illinois, was killed by Capitol Police after firing up to 100 rounds from an assault rifle at a baseball park in Alexandria, Virginia, leaving four injured including House Majority Leader Steve Scalise.

Hodgkinson was a staunch Bernie Sanders supporter and campaigned for the left-wing senator to get the Democratic nomination for president last year. The union tradesman, threatened to ‘destroy’ the president and his administration on social media.

He was shot by two U.S. Capitol Police officers who were accompanying Scalise to Eugene Simpson Stadium Park for the scheduled baseball practice ahead of Thursday night’s charity match.

The officers were both wounded as they used their pistols to shoot at Hodgkinson while the congressmen fled to a dugout.
