Google it appears is going all in on political correctness now. And “liberals” you need to pay attention too. This is about narrowing ALL discussion not just speech the “social justice warriors” don’t like. The #OLDMEDIA want to control the narrative again and it looks like Google has joined their cause.
It should be noted that the establishment has been trying to figure out how to put the information genie back in the bottle for a few years now. Remember when Dianne Feinstein called for the licensing of journalists? Many thought that with a politically correct president in Hillary Clinton they’d be able to shut things down legislatively. Since that didn’t happen we are seeing the powers that be go another route.
Lots of websites are seeing their traffic impacted these days – Right, Left, and other. We should all be very concerned. Some people do not want average everyday people with empowering information. And it appears that the big shots are willing to go to extraordinary lengths to keep people from thinking.
This is against everything the Internet is supposed to stand for.
The only way Google (and others) will learn is if such actions significantly impact its bottom line. So consider that. Hopefully this move toward censorship, toward a truly Orwellian Internet, can be stopped. The Chinese are locking down their Internet as we write this. We must not let America suffer the same fate.
We will be watching closely to see what is thrown into the “can not share” bin.
(From The Sun)
This policy was announced several months ago but has come into force in the past week, prompting anger among members of the YouTube community.
The Sun Online understands Google and YouTube staff refer to the tactic as “tougher treatment”.
One prominent video-maker slammed the new scheme whilst WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange described the measures as “economic censorship”.
However, YouTube sees it as a way of maintaining freedom of speech and allowing discussion of controversial issues without resorting to the wholesale banning of videos.
Videos which are put into a limited state cannot be embedded on other websites.
They also cannot be easily published on social media using the usual share buttons and other users cannot comment on them.
