So Schumer isn’t out there enough for these folks…OK…
Look, what happened is Schumer came to an agreement because he had to. But the people advocating for the “dreamers” flipped out because they thought they were the prime concern of Democrats in this battle. Surprise, you are expendable. Especially when everyday people see the Dems hanging up the payment of paychecks for a group of folks who are technically in the country illegally. – That’s the harsh political reality. I’m not saying this perception is right or wrong, just that it is what people see.
There is a reasonable chance that some internal polling was telling Schumer this is how the issue is seen. Pelosi plays good cop and the Schumer tacks.

Progressives(*) are hammering Sen. Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) for his agreement with Senate Republican leadership to end the government shutdown on Monday.
Even House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has spoken out against the deal, saying there was no reason to support it.
“I don’t see that there’s any reason — I’m speaking personally and hearing from my members — to support what was put forth,” Pelosi said at a press briefing shortly before Schumer signaled Senate Democrats would agree to it.
