It sounds like everyone on the train is OK, but the people in the trash truck that got hit may not have fared so well.
This is an odd story on which to post for me personally as this happened in the (very small) town in which I used to live. Actually, practically in my old neighborhood.
I clicked on the story and there it was. A place I know very well.
Our prayers are with the guys on the truck. The team that serviced us always did a great job.
According to WHSV’s sister station, Newsplex, the train was a specially chartered Amtrak train that left Union Station around 8:30 a.m. and, at 11:20 a.m., the front of the train hit a garbage truck just west of Crozet, near Marymart Farm Road and Lanetown Road.
The truck was nearly torn in half. The incident apparently occurred at or near a crossing because he could see railroad crossing gates.
The Albemarle County Police Department is on the scene, and national response teams are on the way…
…Oklahoma GOP Rep. Tom Cole said everal GOP lawmakers who are doctors got off the train to assist, including Rep. Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio, who was also at last June’s shooting of Republicans at a baseball practice in nearby Alexandria, Virginia, and treated some of the victims.
