Dollar Rides to 2-Week High on Wave of U.S. Budget Deal Optimism


The dollar marched higher on Thursday, sending a key index of the U.S. currency to a two-week high. The greenback continued to find support in optimism over a budget deal in Washington, D.C., and hopes for higher U.S. interest rates.

Meanwhile, the pound slumped ahead of the Bank of England’s so-called Super Thursday trio of releases — the central bank’s interest-rate decision, February meeting minutes and quarterly inflation report are all scheduled to arrive simultaneously.
