I have come to like Rosanne more over the years. Not so much for her politics but because of one episode where she was featured as the temporary mayor of Portland in the show Portlandia. I hadn’t seen her for years but in the episode she was slimmed down, and funny. She poked fun at things some people would never have poked fun at in Hipsterville USA. I enjoyed the episode. (Portlandia is a favorite here.)
So now she comes out and does an unabashedly pro-Trump revival of her show from the 1990s? Look, I don’t care where you are on the political spectrum, that takes guts.
And guess what? It was a huge (YUGE) hit. Maybe Hollywood ought to pay some attention. (Because, believe me, somebody is going to get hip to America like Rosanne apparently is.)
And I don’t think anyone thinks that Rosanne won’t call out Trump if she thinks she should either.
The revival of Roseanne premiered to massive ratings Tuesday night.
The return delivered an incredible 18.2 million viewers along with an equally impressive 5.1 rating among adults 18-49.
According to ABC, this is the highest-rated comedy telecast on any network in nearly four years (since a premiere episode of CBS’ The Big Bang Theory from 2014).
