This is part of the reason why even though Trump screws ups regularly (who doesn’t?) we insist on giving the guy a fair shake. We have been committed to this from the very beginning. From the moment he walked by me at CPAC looking a little too important for himself. To his shots at Rand Paul in the election, we have remained committed to being FAIR with the guy. Even though it would be easy to do what many other outlets do.
It is this sort of nonsense from Howard Schultz that makes us just throw up our hands. This is just pandering nonsense. His people screw up and now it’s Trumps fault? It is annoying because I like Starbucks coffee. It is my coffee of choice. But this isn’t being “woke.” This is just being stupid. I hate to think that my coffee purchase contributes to this kind of numbskullery.
The CNN anchor asked Schultz if the rhetoric from the White House was “opening the door to increased overt racist behavior,” to which Shultz responded, in part, “I think the totality of the issue is beyond the White House.”
The anchor asked again, “Has President Trump’s rhetoric, personally, on race exacerbated racism in America?”
“On a personal level, it probably has given license to people to feel as if they can emulate and copy the kind of behavior and language that comes out of this administration,” Schultz said. He continued, “The racial divide and the inequities that exist between people of color and Caucasians in America is a problem that has existed for quite some time…”
But don’t worry folks. It is enlightened people like Schultz who will bridge this divide. THEY will show us the way. It’s not like they’ll make matters much worse. No.
