ERIC SCHNEIDERMAN: The well-known Trump antagonist positioned himself as a leading defender of women. On Monday night, he resigned amid allegations of physical abuse.

Over the years, Schneiderman has built a reputation as an advocate for victims of domestic violence, even introducing a bill in the State Legislature in 2010 that made life-threatening, intentional strangulation a violent felony. “This is a man who has staked his entire career, his personal narrative, on being a champion for women publicly. But he abuses them privately,”

Cuomo and Schneiderman.

Seriously what kind of person can live like this? Mr. Schneiderman had aspirations for governor and maybe beyond. He coldly exploited women and the causes of abused women to further his career, all while he allegedly beat his partners in private.

This sort of thing (and it seems like there is more every single day) is one of the big reasons why much of the country (and it is a growing portion of the country we sense) has given up on the rabid political class that has gone after Trump like it has. It’s one of the reasons why consensual sex with a porn star doesn’t mean much to them. Hollywood wails and cries about Trump’s “misogyny” and then…

And then,

and then,

and then,

(From Vanity Fair)

Earlier this year, the New York attorney general’s office, led by Eric Schneiderman, brought a lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein’s former production company, after the disgraced Hollywood mogul was accused of decades of sexual misconduct. At the request of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Schneiderman was also reviewing Manhattan district attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr.’s 2015 decision not to prosecute Weinstein after an Italian model credibly accused him of groping her. “We have never seen anything as despicable as what we’ve seen right here,” he said of the allegations against Weinstein. Until this week, he was widely expected to run for governor after Cuomo.

Schneiderman’s image as an outspoken progressive champion was abruptly punctured on Monday, when The New Yorker published a damning and disturbing investigation into the New York attorney general’s behavior, including allegations of physical abuse by four women. Just three hours after the report’s publication, Schneiderman announced he would step down.

Much of the political class, the people who profess to be “progressive” and “good” are full of shite. These people, these people who are obsessed with power and status and really give a damn about who was at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner have no business tut tutting about morals or empathy, or diversity, or “love”. Now, at very long last everyday people are broadly waking up. The facade is being ripped down in Hollywood and in politics. But there is so much more to remove. So much ugliness that has long been covered up by powerful people.

Check out this piece by Ronan Farrow, who first reported on the Weinstein scandal, and what he went through and how the powers that be tried to stop him at every turn.

The Obama years, particularly, were a rotten time for this country. The powers that be got very comfortable in their positions. With Obama in the White House and the rhetorical cover that he gave them and then the prospect of 8 years of Hillary Clinton who long ago sold all she had to Hollywood and the rest of the crony class, things looked like things would stay good for this crowd forever.

But times change.

Did they ever.

Seriously, people are now looking around and asking,  “I’m supposed to be angry at Trump for what? Look at these people who indulge in this unbridled rage, rage that has hurt the country.”

Also worth noting, Kobe Bryant was awarded an Oscar at the #metoo Oscars.

Oh, and we’re still waiting for the Bill Clinton “reckoning”.
