Four Palestinians were killed in the 11th straight week of violent clashes with Israeli forces along the Gaza border.
Among the protesters killed was a 15-year-old identified as Haitham Mohammed al Jamal. Since the weekly border protests started in late March, 127 people have been killed, Palestinian authorities said.
The protests began under the name Great March of Return, a campaign organized by Palestinians to rally on Fridays near the Gaza-Israel border to demand Palestinian refugees be allowed to return to what is now Israel.
Approximately 10,000 people showed up in the 11th week of protests, which marked the anniversary of Israel’s victory in 1967’s Six-Day War. During the Six-Day War, Israel seized the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
Israeli forces told i24News that protesters hurled “fire kites” into Israel, although some were downed by small drones and no major blazes broke out.
