We can only hope that George Soros lives to see the European Union implode, the great European empire by technocrat with Germany at the head.
It is no coincidence that much of the most ardent anti-German, er, we mean anti-EU, sentiment comes for Eastern Europe where being dominated by a foreign power still remains fresh in the minds of many.
And now the front has officially opened up on the southern flank. No General Patton or Montgomery this time though.
Salvini’s League and the 5-Star Movement struck a deal Thursday on a coalition government which will work towards “putting Italians first” (and potentially making life for Europe a living hell with the ongoing threat of Quitaly, which according to JPMorgan may be Rome’s best outcome), ending five days of market volatility and political chaos.
In response, George Soros flipped out, openly suggesting that Salvini might be financed by Vladimir Putin, saying he is “very worried about Russia’s influence on Europe in general and on the new Italian government.”
It’s the same mantra. Anyone who opposes a Davos Man dominated world, a world regulated and subjugated by a mixture of financiers and bureaucrats, must be working for Putin. Nonsense. Putin obviously doesn’t like a German dominated Europe. (For pretty good reason.) But there are lots of people who don’t like a German dominated Europe OR Mr. Putin. It’s not one or the other. Soros would like people to think it is, but it is not.
