Although this new study does not address it, there is still concern about LDL cholesterol that has oxidized. Fortunately there is a separate test for that. Statins do not reduce oxidation of cholesterol and come with a host of side effects ( just read the drug insert) such as diabetes and muscle pain.

Their findings, published in the Expert Review of Clinical Pharmacology, suggest the drugs won’t treat heart disease, as they say high bad cholesterol levels don’t necessarily lead to heart disease.
