Wooing a large company to a new location comes with the promise of a number of benefits to the new community, none of which are more important than jobs.
Even when forced to offer questionable financial incentives to a company, politicians can point to the number of jobs created as a justification for almost any deal they make.
There’s an added twist though to the story at the new Foxconn plant in Wisconsin. Citing an inability to hire enough qualified local people, Foxconn may bring in workers from China to work at the facility.
Putting a favorable spin on building a plant in Wisconsin that’s staffed with workers from China will be a challenge for even the best of politicians.
